Xfce 4 also provides the ability to use virtual workspaces, or virtual desktops. Windows can be moved between workspaces to reduce clutter and to keep similar items grouped together.
Using Workspaces
You can use as many virtual workspaces as you prefer to keep your windows organized. Convenient keyboard shortcuts are also provided to switch between your workspaces, or you can use the mouse wheel on the desktop background.
Workspaces Menu
If you middle-click on the desktop you will see a windows and workspaces menu. Here you can switch between open windows and see which desktop they are located on.
Workspace Pager Applet
You can use the pager applet inside your top panel to reach many of these settings, or you can use the pager to switch workspaces.
Xfce 4 Workspace Settings Commands
You can find the system settings manager inside the main menu. You cna then launch the workspace settings dialog. You can also launch if manually with the commands seen below.
System Settings
Use the next command to launch the systems settings manager.
xfce4-settings-manager
Workspace Settings
To simply launch the workspac settings dialog directly just use the command below.
$ xfwm4-workspace-settings

To access your these settings look inside the Xfce-settings manager and click on the workspace settings dialog. The following settings can be found inside the Xfce 4 workspace settings window.
Add Workspaces
With Xfce 4 you can add as many virtual workspaces as you want. The default interface only offers 2 workspaces which is usually not enough.
Workspace Names
Try adding workspace names for each one of your existing workspaces. You can use this feature to help sort different activities.
Workspace Margins
You can also configure margins near workspace edges where no windows will be placed.
